Quick primer on Fencing from WonderFeline on GetGlue:

This is how fencing works: 3 weapons, foil, épée, and sabre. They differ in blade, handle, target area on opponent, and part of the blade that score points when touched to opponent. You win a bout by touching your opponent 15 times. Scoring is electronic, for fairness and to score fast and light touches a human judge might miss. Foil: target is front & back of torso, touches are w tip of blade. Épée: target is whole body except hands, touches are w tip of blade. Sabre: target is torso, arms, head, touches are w any part of the blade. This is my fav becuz you can whack your opponent over the head w your sword. =} In foil, an off-target touch stops the action, but not in the other two weapons. HTH people to enjoy the sport more! =} Women’s foil semifinals and finals start at 11 a.m. Central Time!

I am actually watching Deadliest Catch: Deckhands, which is an interesting look at the actual work that the deckhands do on this show.

It is tough, punishing work.  Still male-dominated, but it can break the biggest guy and the smallest guy.  It’s also good, honest work and if you can hack, it all the best to you.
